These days, as far as the digital information exchange is concerned, there are standards for everything. No one actually follows these standards, but at least they are there. Which is why it is so surprising to me that there does not appear to be a standard for passwords. At least, in my […]

A couple of weeks ago, I laid out a nice smooth and shiny plan for upgrading my PC and setting up a backup system. Well, as the old adages say, no battle plan survives more than a few minutes once the fight is joined, and what can go wrong, will go wrong.
If there is […]

After spending over an hour trying to figure out how to “fix” a windowboxed video, I finally stumbled upon the answer on the MPlayer man page.
If you have a widescreen display and are as annoyed at having black borders on all four sides as I was, the solution is as simple as running:
$ mplayer -vf […]

I had too many “users” signed up with wonderful names like Prescription Drugs and Dating Service, so user-registration is now off, and I mass-deleted a few hundred signons.
If you find that you can no longer sign-in, please let me know, and I will re-instate your account.

I was sitting here, attempting to think of a proper preamble to this short posting, but after a few minutes of furrowed-brow thinking, I still could not come up with anything. I guess this will have to do…
I code in spurts. I can sit for many hours straight, staring at the screen and […]

I have known about the “single-post-404″ problem with WP 1.5.x and PostLevels for a while, but have been too lazy to do anything about it. Well, I finally got the motivation to fix it. After browsing the web, I found a solution by Sören. Sören figured out exactly where the problem was […]

There were a few minor issues that have now been resolved.
The major problem — journal search only displaying one result — has now been fixed. The RSS feeds should now work for posts and comments. I’ve also patched WordPress to v1.5.1.2 to fix a minor security hole. Finally, I’ve installed Scott Yang’s permalink redirector plugin, […]

I’ve updated WordPress to 1.5.1.1, hoping that it would fix my feed issues. Unfortunately, they still seem to be broken in Firefox

Filipe Fortes has released a fix for his Post Levels plugin. The new version (0.2.1) is now compatible with WordPress 1.5.1.
I have updated the Post Levels Enhancer plugin to be compatible with the new versions of WordPress and PostLevels.

I spent a good part of the day trying to hack out a perl plugin for irssi. It’s one of those nifty geeky things that let you show the info of a song currently playing in xmms.
The good thing about this script is that it does not rely on the infopipe method. Not […]

For some unknown reason, I became aware of a WordPress update (1.5 -> 1.5.1) only one day after its release. I am not sure what motivated me to jump on the bandwagon and upgrade too, but I am regretting it. There are quite a few kinks with this update, like broken RSS feeds […]

Happy April Fool’s Day everyone!
To be honest, I completely forgot about it, until a strange thing happend. Tired of studying, I have been working on yet another addition to this site. I made a little script that summarizes the current day’s activity, while also displaying everything that has happened on this site on […]

Post Levels Enhancer is a Word Press plugin that provides a visual mouse-accessible menu for Filipe Fortes’s Post Levels plugin.

I have returned, and it has only been 5 months, or so.
It has been my pattern in the last few years to become increasingly distracted, as my workload/stress increases. For example, while I was in college, every time the end-of-semester finals rolled around, I found myself reading an inordinate amount of fiction — basically, […]

I have added an iPAP photo gallery to the site. While it works on a basic level and is far superior (approach-wise) to Gallery or Coppermine (stupid tables), I have realized already that I am not very happy with it. For one, it uses a flat-file databasing method, which irks me. Also, […]
